In this thought-provoking talk, we explore the vital intersection of bias, diversity, and artificial intelligence (AI) in the realm of product and service design and learn how AI can serve as a powerful tool for gaining broader perspectives.

Dr. Vanessa Julia Carpenter believes in being a catalyst for change. Her focus today is on Femtech and how we can empower half the world’s population to live a better life. She holds a PhD in Designing for Meaningfulness in Future Smart Products from Aalborg University, Copenhagen and is founder and designer at Kintsugi Design, a design studio specializing in design and emerging technologies. Vanessa is a member of the Danish Design Council and is one of the experts on the The Danish Society of Engineers’ expert panel (IDA). She has worked as a Chief Innovation Officer for Gagarin, as a VR Business Developer for Astrid, as a Creative Technologist for SPACE10, a Lead Designer at FORCE Technology and as a consultant for many other companies.

Vanessa’s background is within Interactive Art & Technology and she aims to work interdisciplinary between industry, art, academia and technology. She founded the Nordic Women in Hardware and Nordic Femtech groups, and writes for TechTruster, a femtech news site. She is often featured as a keynote speaker and workshop facilitator for her ability to inspire, educate and provoke, being a catalyst for change and growth for people who need it the most.
